I came to the realisation that glitches are mostly a result of miscommunication or mistranslation when transferring data from one environment to another. They exhibit themselves in the surface of other media perhaps as a layer of visual communication that
shows something has gone wrong. They are sub media. - iman moradi, gtlch aesthetics, 2004

on DNPWWO, some thoughts?
with DNPWWO i’m interested in the aesthetic/emotional experiences of the STATE of helplessness.
the interesting part isn’t the seemingly priveleged power-position of the non-glitched device, moving freely about the space on a quest to exert his power.
the experience of note is the aesthetic, experiential PLAY of the victim as he explores the ritual gamespace, aware of, but potentially unconcerned about his helplessness.
A Glitch can turn an inherently predictable activity into an uncertain exciting, performable art.

Games are both object and process; they can’t be read as texts or listened to as music, they must be played.
